Guest 投稿 "ILM (Industrial Light & Magic, a division of Lucas Digital. Ltd.), used the SOFTIMAGE3D product to animate over 80 digital creatures, monsters, clones and robots featured in Episode II.
During the productions, ILM upgraded to an early version of what was to become SOFTIMAGE|3D v.4.0 mid-production in order to take advantage of the new version’s features and convert from IRIX based systems to more powerful and cost-effective Linux workstations.
Although they changed the OS, there were able to keep all their familiar tools and files unchanged and could immediately take advantage of the increase in processing power that the new hardware and software afforded them.
They reported the transition to be absolutely seamless.
