個人向けには、まだVistaは発売されていませんが、Vistaのベータ版やXPや2003でもいろいろなソフトをインストールすれば、WPFコンテンツが開発できます。
WPFには、ローカルで動作するアプリケーションと、ブラウザ上で動作するアプリケーションの二つがあり、ブラウザ版はセキュリティの関係からいくつか使えない機能もあるようです。さらに、ユーザーはノンプラグインでコンテンツを閲覧できます。
WPF用のGUIは、xaml(ザムル)というxmlベースのフォーマットで記述できるので、デザイナーはxamlを、プログラマーはVisual Studio2005でC#などの言語でプログラミングする分業が可能です。

Expert Visual Effects Training Anywhere, Anytime

HOLLYWOOD, CA, November 17, 2006, -- Gnomon School of Visual Effects has launched an online division for expert training anytime, anywhere. Beginning in January 2007, courses focused on the development of the skills needed to do digital effects, animation and game development taught by industry professionals will now be available to anyone in the world with high-speed internet access. Lectures are delivered at 9060 x 540 resolution and may be viewed 24/7. Industry professionals critique all uploaded homework.

（レンダーブレード）を発表しました。

Render Bladeはもっとも高機能でかつ低価格なWeb3D用ソフトウェアです。
世界的にも有名でユーザー数も多い3DCGアニメーションソフト：
Lightwave 3DのアニメーションデータをそのままWeb3Dとしてリアルタイム表示

携帯電話の多様化、ディスプレイの高精細化に伴いコンテンツ配信が複雑になっています。
「Picture Fitter」はASPによる画像変換サービスで、サーバーに置かれた各種形式のファイルを各端末の対応フォーマット、ディスプレイ解像度にあわせて自動で変換して表示してくれます。
また、それを生かしたサムネイル表示やトリミング機能なども備えているようです。
用途は相当限られますがかなり便利そうです。

先日、NTT情報流通プラットフォーム研究所のネット空間クルージング技術「InfoLead（インフォリード）」を利用した、3Dウェブ検索(ウェブページ、画像) を発表したgooラボで、今度は3D映画検索 、3D中古車検索が始まった模様。

3D中古車検索はなかなか良いアイデアかと思いますが、これWindowsでしか見れないんだよね、、、

他のWeb3Dの例に漏れず、このまま別な方向に行かない事を希望します。

私は、このアプリケーションの存在自体知らなかったのですが、TurnToolBoxはmaxからエクスポートしたファイルをリアルタイムレンダリングするアプリケーションです。v2.12.18からv2.12.20にアップデートしたようです。下のページの黒いカンはブラウザの中で文字の上まで飛び出して見れます。viewpointみたいで面白いです。

JavaベースのWeb3Dのオーサリング環境というとYappa3Dを思い出しますが、WireFusionというのが出ているようですね。もちろんJavaベースなのでWindows/Macintosh OS X/Linux/Unixで表示が可能。見てみた感じはYappa3Dよりはクオリティ的に落ちる気もしますが、コストパフォーマンスも良いし、悪くは無い感じ。今度テストで買ってみようかな？体験版も落とせるみたいなので、もし使ったことのある人はレビュー等を送ってもらえるとうれしい。

米アドビが Atmosphere をリリースしたそうです。CNET Japan の説明によれば、これは、「3Dウェブイメージ制作用のデザインツールセット」ということで、早い話が、グラフィックソフトベンダーの雄が放つ、新たな Web3D ソフトなわけです。特徴としては、物理エンジンの搭載により、クリエイターは複雑な衝突計算などを考慮することなく、ライブラリを使って簡単にシーンを作れるということ。『Atmosphereはフルバージョンが399ドル、学生や教員用のアカデミックバージョンが99ドルで現在発売中。Atmosphere PlayerはAdobeのサイトから無償でダウンロードできる。』とのこと。さて、アドビの戦略はいかに。

gooさんのページにこんなものがありました。「3Dウェブ検索は、光ネット時代に向けた新しい情報ナビゲーション技術です。」だそうです。私も使ってみたところ、結構面白いです。3D空間でウェブページ検索ができます。グルグルまわしているうちに微妙に酔ってしまいましたが、人とは違う検索をしたい方にお勧めです。
