現在発売されているWindows Vistaの次のバージョンは「Windows 7」と呼ばれており、2010年頃の発売を予定しています。

ドルビーは９月27日に新しい3Dデジタルシネマ技術「Dolby 3D Digital Cinema」を公開しました。従来通り専用のメガネを使います。

ブラウザ経由でYouTubeや指定したMP3ファイルなどなどを目覚ましの音にしてしまうというかなり強力なネットサービスです。もちろん利用は無料で会員登録なども不要。単純に目覚ましとして利用したいだけであればブラウザ経由でページにアクセスして目覚ましを鳴らしたい時刻を設定するだけでOK。時刻表示形式や色などの細かいカスタマイズも可能です。

YouTubeの公式ブログによると、YouTubeでいろいろと実験的なサービスをリリースしている「TestTube」上にて「YouTube Remixer」というオンラインビデオ編集ツールがリリースされたそうです。ドラッグ＆ドロップなどでかなり手軽に編集可能です、非常に簡単で便利。もちろん無料。

作ったのはPhotoshopなどで有名なあのAdobe。3月頃には半年以内にオンラインで利用できるPhotoshopを無料でリリースすると言っていましたが、こういうのを見ると本当にやる気なのだということがわかります。

ベースとなっているのは一般的な大型/中型セロハンテープホルダーで、背面にPC接続用のUSB Aコネクタ×1個とデバイス接続用のUSB Bコネクタ×3個を、前面にUSB Bコネクタ×1個を搭載する、という構造。背面のデバイス用コネクタは左右に回転する仕組みで、ケーブルが取り回しやすいよう配慮されている。電源についてはバスパワー専用で、ACアダプタなども付属しない。

今回のCESは、次世代ゲームコンソールが勢揃いした直後ということもあり、各所で家庭用ゲーム機が散見された。中でもWiiは、ブースの来客の接待用に用意しているところもあり、意味もなく「Wii Sports」のテニスを楽しんでいる姿が見られた。

Las Vegas Hiltonには、アジア企業が集まっているが、ここにはWiiリモコンに装着するアタッチメントを展示しているブースが2カ所もあった。このアタッチメントは、実際のテニスのラケットや、野球のバット、ゴルフのクラブなどを模したもので、実際になりきったプレーができる。

New Scientist Tech is reporting on a new rapid prototype machine kit you can build yourself.

It seems that it can't use materials with a high melting point, but they have a movie on the site showing it printing in flexible silicone, and they mention melted chocolate as well. Just in time for Easter!
