カラーマネジメントのワークフローにまつわる不満を軽減してくれる助っ人「カラまね」が登場した。カラまねは、ウインドウのイメージを取り込み、好みの ICC プロファイルを割り当て、モニタのカラースペースに変換した上で「のぞき窓」(※動画参照)へと出力し、Adobe Photoshop や the GIMP などが備えている基本的なカラーマネジメント表示を、対応してないソフトでも利用できるように補助してくれるのだ。

Maide has released CadRemote, a new app enabling users to navigate 3D software via their iPhones.
CadRemote forms a sister product to Maide’s iPad app, recently updated and renamed CadControl.
Excerpt from Maide’s blog:
The iPhone will connect to all the same programs the iPad would connect with (Solidworks, Sketchup, Maya, 3DS Max, and Rhino). You can now use the iPhone and iPod to navigate 3D models, pull renders, and sketch over top of the main screen. This is great when you’re doing creative sessions with someone else, because you can draw on their screen. We’ve modelled the multi-control aspect of the app after a “pass the mic” system when multiple people are connected, so when someone is controlling the model, other people are blocked until he/she is finished.

Autodesk, Inc. has introduced two exciting offerings in the company’s emerging Autodesk 123D family — Autodesk 123D Catch and Autodesk 123D Make Technology Preview. The offerings enable anyone to quickly and easily capture 3D models from the world around them, and additionally turn 3D models into their own artistic creations.
The Autodesk 123D Catch application — previously codenamed Project Photofly on Autodesk Labs — is a new, public beta release that uses the power of cloud computing to quickly transform digital photos into photorealistic 3D models.
Autodesk 123D Make application is a also a new, free* technology preview for the Mac, capable of converting digital 3D models into 2D cut patterns that can be easily assembled in low-cost materials, such as cardboard, wood, fabric, metal or plastic. The cut pieces come together to create a physical representation of the original digital model.

The Blender Foundation has released Blender 2.60, marking the beginning of a new phase of development for the open-source 3D package. Most notable in this release is 3D audio, UI translation, improved weight painting and a lot of animation system updates including a new motion capture toolset.
The Blender Foundation will make a migration schedule for all new features in a series of small steps; with stablest branches first. Each release is supposed to be stable, only finished branches will be added. Plan is to make a very tight schedule for this, with a bi-monthly release.

Pixologic has revealed the new features for Zbrush 4 R2. Alongside the Best Preview Render, a new cut tool and LightCap materials, R2 boasts a new feature called Dynamesh, which solves one of the long-standing issues with ZBrush. Dynamesh retopologises the object, giving you a nice medium-density mesh for you to add details. Other new functions include a ‘repeat stroke’ action which is very useful if you want to use a subtle stroke again and again to build up detail.
Smith Micro has unveiled Poser 9 and Poser Pro 2012 at Siggraph 2011.
Like DAZ Studio 4 earlier this year, both versions of the popular figure design and animation software gain support for weight maps, along with an extensive weight painting toolset in the Pro edition. Both new releases will also see a number of display and rendering improvements, including support for subsurface scattering and an updated OpenGL display.
