SIGGRAPH 2008
This year's ACM Siggraph Student Research Award went to the German student Max Grosse. He studies at the University of Weimar. His presented project is about increasing the quality of projection especially on surfaces which are spherical or cylindrical by using coded aperture.

To get more information to his work, you can download his poster on following webpage: http://e-pub.uni-weimar.de/volltexte/2008/1302/ (English document)

And of course I don't want to forget the second and third prize:

2nd Prize: Ly Phan - Surface Reconstruction From Point Set Using Projection Operator, Washington University, St. Louis
3rd Prize: Hitoshi Uno - Lace Curtain: Measurement of BTDF and rendering of woven cloth, Kwansei Gakuin, Nagata
