Expert Visual Effects Training Anywhere, Anytime

HOLLYWOOD, CA, November 17, 2006, — Gnomon School of Visual Effects has launched an online division for expert training anytime, anywhere. Beginning in January 2007, courses focused on the development of the skills needed to do digital effects, animation and game development taught by industry professionals will now be available to anyone in the world with high-speed internet access. “Gnomon Online is our response to the increased demand for Gnomon’s training by individuals and companies outside of the Los Angeles area – and outside of the United States,” explains Gnomon Associate Director Darrin Krumweide. “Gnomon is able to offer the level of instruction we do because of where we are – in the heart of the digital production community. We can’t very well pick up the school and move it elsewhere. But, through the internet we can bring our extraordinary instructors and professional curriculum to anyone anywhere in the world.”

Individuals who sign up for Gnomon Online courses will have access to 15 to 30 hours of pre-recorded video instruction, project assignments designed to hone the skills needed in production and individual feedback on homework from a working production professional. Courses are offered on a quarterly basis; four terms per year. Each week of the term the appropriate three-hour lecture is made accessible. Lectures are delivered at 9060 x 540 resolution and may be viewed 24/7. Industry professionals critique all uploaded homework.

All Gnomon Online instructors are professionals in the entertainment industries with a minimum of three years production experience, who teach within their area of expertise. Classes are geared towards teaching the tools and techniques actually used in digital production.
